Garden Hill – Part 1

flag

Hello from…the U.S.A.!

The Lord allowed our family a very exciting opportunity this past weekend in Canada. I started to write a blog post about it while we were up there but we didn’t have internet access, so the following is the post I started there and finished here. There will be more to come as well!

Greetings from Garden Hill, Manitoba! We are so excited to be here. Dad was here quite a few years ago by himself, and now the Lord has opened the door for our whole family to come up here to minister in song at some tent meetings.sign

We spent Wednesday night at the NYP headquarters at Beaver Lake near Dryden, Ontario. We are so blessed by their continual hospitality to us when we pass through the area. Yesterday (Thursday) they flew us up to Island Lake.

From the Island Lake airport we had to somehow get down to the lake with all our belongings to take a boat in to Garden Hill. So we piled our luggage and instruments onto a cart from the airport and started walking. (We packed very light–we could actually see out the back window of our van!)

After a little bit, a lady with a pickup truck came for us and helped get our things down to the dock.

We finally arrived in Garden Hill! Mr. Arnold Flett met us at the dock to take us to the place we would be staying.

We spent the day at the Flett’s house. Nations One For Christ, a radio ministry that airs The Storyteller, was building a radio tower nearby. It was neat to watch the progress, and Lord-willing it will be finished today. (Note: the tower was completed over the weekend and dedicated to God.)

Later, Dad and the boys went over to the meeting tent to check it out. Jonathan became a “kid magnet,” as Dad described him.jonathan

The meetings started the next evening. We made lots of little friends before hand!

The theme of the conference was Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

And Jesus saved people this weekend!

But I’m getting ahead…stay tuned for more on our trip!  Click here for the rest of the story!fam

2013 Lake Itasca Family Music Festival

banner (2)Wow, it’s hard to believe the Lake Itasca festival is already come and gone this year!

Our festival weekend started on Thursday as we headed out to the festival grounds to do some prep work. (Sorry, we didn’t really get pictures.) We had fun working with friends to scrub the kitchen, clean bathrooms, set up the CD tables area, all sorts of things in the Snack Shack, and folding programs! Lots of them.

Friday, we had lunch with our grandparents who came out from SD for the festival. It was so special to see them again. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa, that meal was really good!

Then, it was off to the festival!

The Lord really blessed us with perfect weather, so we never had to move the main stage performances to an inside stage.

Mom and Dad worked hard again in the Snack Shack and cleaning bathrooms, respectively. I’m sad to say that we didn’t get pictures of them in action! But here’s a few smiling faces…DSCN8900

And the Wissmann family’s children’s hour was wonderful again, as well. (Be sure to check their blog for more festival photos!)

Join us! We are looking forward to another great year at this music festival!

“Bring your whole family and enjoy spending time together at the area’s best family music festival! We’re next door to Itasca State Park, the birthplace of the Mississippi River. No alcohol, drugs, or pets please. Rough camping available. Bring your lawn chairs and instruments and get ready for fun!”

“Camping * Outdoor Main Stage * Showcase Stages * Workshops * Old-Time Hymn Sing * Children’s Activities * Biking  * Food * Jamming and more!”

“Coming again this year…
The KIDS Storybook Musical Theatre’s (presented by the Wissmann Family).                                            An interactive production of beloved Bible and history stories is aimed at boys and girls ages three on up, and is filled with comedy, songs, drama and audience participation. Each show has a positive lesson, something we reckon children will remember for a very long time! Don’t miss this exciting festival event; check the schedule for more details.”

PLUS…

The Berge Family is scheduled to sing one set this year! (For those of you who may not know, the Berges started and host the festival. They are a very well-loved band in Minnesota that is semi-retired. This family loves the Lord and they are a joy to be around!)

We hope to see you there!
